Cement-Retained
Custom Titanium or Zirconia abutment designed to give proper support for any type of restoration to be cemented on. Available in all brands of implants.
Advantages
Easier achievement of of passive fit due to cement layer, intact occlusal table, provides the assurance of maximum esthetics.
Disadvantages
Restoration has to be destroyed to get screw access to abutment, difficulty removing excess cement which causes peri-implantitis.
Screw-Retained
Titanium base cemented to restoration with a visual access hole, all one unit.
Advantages
More predictable retrievability, require a minimal amount of interocclusal space, easier to remove for hygiene.
Disadvantages
modifying the esthetic outcome, checking the interdental contacts.
